Napoleon Firm Expands Packaging Services
Over the past three years, TMT, a Napoleon, Ohio-based business
has seen nearly 60% growth. The business includes four operating
companies -- TMT Logistics, Inc., TMT Warehousing, LLC, TMT Packaging,
LLC and TMT Transportations Services, LLC. According to Carrie
Sprenger, Director of Human Resources and Marketing for the four
firms, additional growth for 2007 and beyond is highly probable.
Sprenger explained that the company's $2 to $3 million investment in 2007 will include an expansion of its existing Napoleon facility and the addition of manufacturing and packaging equipment. TMT also plans to lease a newly acquired facility in Napoleon. This new 167,500 square foot warehouse along with 150,000 square feet of existing space will be used for Walgreen's warehousing. Jan Grady, Director of Warehousing for TMT, will be working on the Walgreen's expansion. Both projects will result in an increase of over 200 jobs to TMT's seasonal workforce.
TMT recently opened TMT Packaging, LLC, and expanded its packaging
operations. Dawn Nye has joined the TMT management team as the
Director of Packaging of the new TMT Packaging, LLC. While the
company has been packaging for approximately four years, a large
investment was made last fall and full production will begin this
year for a new packaging contract with Campbell Soup, a Fortune
500 company. TMT will initially be focusing on food related packaging,
but it hopes to expand its products to other finished goods. The
operations are located at the company's existing Napoleon facility, which has 410,000 square feet. Another 200,000 square foot expansion, expected to be located in Napoleon as well, will also take place later this year.
TMT Packaging, LLC also offers repacking services. Palletized
products are brought in and reorganized into bundles of assorted
products by hand. They are then shrink-wrapped, repalletized, and
shipped for aisle displays in big box stores.
"We purchased [packaging] equipment for our new facility," stated Tony Marks, president and owner of TMT. "We added 280,000 square feet in September, and we also purchased equipment in October, which we installed in our facility."
Lee Schroeder, Henry County Economic Development Office executive
director, helped coordinate tax incentives for the $30 million
project last year. Schroeder also provided significant assistance
for TMT's current projects. "Lee Schroeder is fantastic to work with, and he is doing a very good job," Marks stated.
John Kinstle, Senior Vice President of Commerical Banking and
Tony Hammond, Commerical Loan officer of the Toledo office of FirstMerit
Bank were also supportive of the growth of TMT. "The FirstMerit team continuously exceeds our expectations meeting our financial needs," Marks stated.
"Our company fills a niche by offering customers the ‘total
package' -- providing transportation, packaging, warehousing, and
distribution," Sprenger
states. "Our customers can increase their speed to market by taking
advantage of TMT's total package of services rather than working
with different companies to meet their various needs."
Building a total supply chain solution
TMT Logistics was established by Tony Marks in 1994, the warehousing
business was added in 1999, and the transportation services (brokerage)
was established in 2004. TMT Logistics operates with TMT Warehousing,
Packaging, and Transportation Services at the Napoleon location.
Ken Major is the Director of Transportation of TMT Logistics,
Inc., which provides local, regional, and over-the-road transportation
services to a 500 mile radius of Napoleon and beyond with a fleet
of 75 trucks and over 200 48' and 53' van, plate, and reefer
trailers.
TMT's multiple warehousing services provide fast, reliable,
and accurate service with over one million square feet of warehousing
space and a staff of over 100 permanent and 200 seasonal employees.
TMT's state-of-the-art facilities are equipped to store and process
consumer goods and retail product overflow. New material handling
equipment such as double-wide forklifts, and an RF enabled environment
maximize efficiency. And all warehouses are temperature controlled
and USDA and FDA certified.
About 80% of the company's business
deals with finished goods. The balance is the storage and distribution
of empty containers, such as bottles and cans, for local manufacturers.
TMT's primary customers include Campbell Soup Company, Silgan
Can Company, ConAgra Foods, and Walgreen's.
